On Sunday morning 3 March 2013 my mother and I went to our local kwik Spar at milnerton mall to purchase a few items. When we reached the till the cashier Joanne was in a foul mood and rang up a plastic bag without asking if we wanted one and as we did not she got upset that she now had to reverse her mistake. She then made my mother pack our items into our grocery bags and left. When she came back to the till my mother was still trying to fit the cake into the bag but Joanne got irritated as she wanted to serve other customers. This is not the first time we get bad attitude from the white staff members at Spar. When we go to the store with white friends, staff smile, greet and will even push our trolleys out for us! They make us feel like our money is not wanted. I get better service at the competitor across the street for lower prices!! the high prices at Spar would be easier to pay if staff were not so moody and downright! i have never experienced such behavior at any other Spar store in Cape Town. Utterly disappointed that in this day and age my skin color still affects the service I receive.
