My Gift Voucher that didnt work

I went into the store about three weeks ago and did all my shopping to the value of R250.00 which was the value on my gift card. When it was time to pay I gave the teller my gift card and she said that it didnt have money on, I told that this was impossible as I got this for my birthday and had not used it. She told me to try next time. I was very annoyed as I went there to use the gift card. I went back a week later did some shopping and tried to use my Gift card again and still said I had no money I was very angry as I had lost R 250 and told her to throw it away. The teller was busy breaking the card when she tried again and it went through with R50 and again for R100 and then printed the slip which said I had another - R100.00. This made me angry as I was about to throw away money because CNA'S systems obviously have a fault! I think this is really bad and dont know how many people have lost money in gift cards just as I was going to. Shocking and I expect some form of response from CNA. CNA wont be seeing me or anyone that knows me buy another gift voucher from them!!!
