When I lost my job in November of last year I submitted a retrenchment claim to Woolworths and while I was still waiting for their insurance (ABSA Life) to settle my claim my credit card was handed over to their attorneys Mooney, Ford Attorneys based in Durban for non payment. What suprises me the most is how on earth can that happen whereas they knew exactly what was happening and their insurance was supposed to pay two month of instalments and they only paid one. I recently got a new job and was in the process of applying for a bond and now the bank has declined my application thanks to Woolworths for their "Professionalism" and toothless complaints department. It still boggles my mind how such a simple thing like an insurance claim payout can ruin someone's life, my heart is really bleeding. Is this how Woolworths handles all insurance claims payments? They might be a giant but even ants (consumers) can kill an elephant.
