No Valentine's day chocs on Valentine's Day!!

Seriously - I might be a last-minute shopper, but no Valentine's day chocs on Valentine's Day or other evidence of Valentine's Day in the shop except for a few red roses and cashiers dressed in red. Really no more spirit left in the shop on the day of the occasion. What's the point of wearing a red hat - is it still Christmas?

Same at Christmas - no Christmas cake on 24 December. It might be late, but I wasn't planning to have cake and then was sprung a surprise guest for Christmas at the last minute! Instead, shoppers get to see school uniforms on 24th - as if we're not stressed enough about Christmas. What will happen at Easter - no fresh hot cross buns on Easter??? Buy in advance, freeze and reheat? It's just not the same as freshly baked.
