Expired Pills

I was sold pills which had 11/2013 as the expiry date and this was in November and when I went back to complain the lady helping me said they I fine they will expire at the month end and i should be done taking them by then. She only changed the pills once I said I will not be done by then and would like them to be changed. What i would like to be cleared is why the pills had 11/ 2013 if they only expiry on the month end of november. Clicks has always be my favourite pharmacy, but after this incident i have my reservations. I would like an explaination to put my mind at ease.
