Shoprite
Cheeses left open and contaminated!!!

Shops, Products, Services

I am a regular visitor at the Shoprite in Yeoville as I live in the Yeoville area. I shop there every second or third day due to needing Bread, milk and other essentials.

Yesterday I walk in to buy Brown Albany Bread and Grated cheese for my baby's school lunch. The grated cheese is sold in smaller portions at R 3.49 to R 4.80 or even R 5.00 depending on hw the cheese is measured on the scale. I was shocked to find that there were only five small cheese containers, four of which were wide open, looking dirty and eaten from.

I kindly tried to notify the ladies who cut the cheese behind the counter that the cheese did not look good or presentable, that the containers were open and that there was possible contamination. I was ignored for 20 Mins, while they gossiped about rival colleagues and a manager they hated. I was also informed by one of the ladies that Her responsibility was not to grate me cheese and that she was too busy. Some rubbish about only merchandisers grate the cheese.

Very arrogant, don't have time to hear your complaint attitude. Three ladies, standing, picking their noses, laughing and jeering at me.
I am very upset as I could not make my son sandwiches today.
