Rip Off Spar Umkomaas

We saw Spar TOPS advertise on TV that their range of Carnival wines (3 litres) are on special at R46.95. We went to our local Spar yesterday (24/10/13) to purchase the wine on special.
This special, however (despite being advertised on TV, as well as on the Spar Tops website) was unknown to Spar Umkomaas.
No one - not even the manager was aware of the special! This created 20 minutes of embarrassing arguing with management. First of all, we were told to come back this morning (Fri 25/10/13), then they asked for our name, phone number & address so they 'could get back to us' to confirm whether there was indeed a special.
Eventually they agreed to let us have it at the price of R49.00 per 3 litres. We were thus overcharged twice for the 2 boxes of wine which we purchased AND made to feel that we were in the wrong! They even tried to convince us certain specials are area-specific.
We've made an enquiry via the Spar TOPS FaceBook page - we asked them to confirm whether or not the Carnival wines are on special and I have confirmation via e-mail that this special is indeed country wide.
We find this embarrassing episode completely unacceptable!
Shame on you Spar Umkomaas!
