Unreasonable price increase

I've seen a gorgeous Minnie Mouse travel bag in your shop, couple of weeks ago. On the shelf it had (and still has) a huge "new arrival" sign. The price, R499. Today, I so happen to pop in the shop again and to my astonishment, the price has been increased for a staggering 40%, making it R699. The "new arrival" sign is still there. I've asked the shop assistant how long have these bags been in the shop and he confirmed that they are indeed only few weeks old, also he himself doesn't understand why has the price changed so much.
If you want to tell me that there was a mistake and the actual price was supposed to be R699, I'm not interested in that excuse. On the other hand, if there is a reasonable explanation for this I would like to know.
