Topolansky Fine Furniture
Guest Book - defective goods

Shops, Products, Services

I purchased a guest book, cost about R4, 000, from Topolansky several months ago. It was for a guest house in Dullstroom. I passed it on to a local art shop to have an insert done, and they pointed out that there was a problem with the binding. Topolansky said telephonically that they would replace the book.

When I got it back and took it in to them, they told me it had been dropped. At first I could not remember anything similar, but there is a chance it might have fell from a low height. The art shop (iCreate) said nothing happened to it while it was with them. Topolansky told me that I must have the book repaired at my expense.

When I found a bookbinder (Bookbinding Creations in Emmarentia), the owner (Virginia) told me that the binding was faulty, and I had not dropped it (which I might have done). Virginia repaired it at a cost of R300.

Once repaired, I took the book back to Topolansky and told them what had trandpired. I also found another book on display suffering from the same fault. I asked them to refund what I paid for repairs, and remove the books from sale.

I have since had no word from them. I have tried to contact Michael by email.
