5cents change

From Monday 17 June 2013 i noticed when i pay at the cashiers and change has 5c i do not get it. Today 20 June 2013 i asked the cashier, why she is not giving me the 5c and she told me thy no longer have 5c in the store, so i asked he to give me 10c and she refused. My question is how many customers dont get their 5c from the cashiers in one day. is this some sort of a money making. M sure checkers gets more thn 100 customers in a day and times the 5c by 100 customers. this is not right and we shud be protected as customers.
