KWV 10 Year old Brandy

Ten year old KWV brandy has a very distinctive "oak wood " aroma and a nice smooth taste. I normally drink it on the rocks. The normal price is R149/bottle at Makro, but on 25 May 2013 the price was only R129 - I bought two bottles. Big was my dissapointment when I opened the one bottle at home and found that it did not smell or taste like 10 year old KWV brandy. In fact, I would say that 3 year old brandy is of better quality. This bottle of 10Year old is only good to be consumed with a cola. I contacted KWV head office in Paarl and dealt with Evette Hanekom who was most helpful. We aranged that the two bottles would be picked up from my home for anlasis. Two weeks later nothing has happened as it seems that the KWV agents in PE are not interested in my problem. Clearly the quality and good name of KWV is not a high priority for them. From my side I will never buy a KWV product again and Makro is willing to refund me for the one bottle I have not opened.
