A person posing as an employee of the Durban Metro electricity department phoned, asking if he could make an appointment with us to discuss ways of reducing our electrical consumption, I agreed to see them at my home at 5.30pm on the Monday evening.
Expecting someone from Metro, I was surprised when a young white male arrived on a motorbike with what looked like a laptop.
He proceeded to explain the benefits of the solar geysers that he was selling and after much negotiation between himself and someone named Raymond on the phone, we were told that we could have this solar geyser installed for R9500, but we had to pay a deposit of R500 to secure the "special discount" he was giving us.
We paid the deposit on condition that it was completely refundable should we change our minds by the following morning.
We decided to cancel, and so tried to phone the office. After numerous calls and stories later with no success, we drove to the offices in Moore road on Thursday but were not allowed to enter. That evening I Emailed Kamiel Singh, the owner, to inform him that we would like to cancel and would like our deposit back. No response. Friday again, no response. DON'T DEAL WITH THESE PEOPLE!!
