Tasol Solar
Stay away from solar geysers!

Construction & Repair

There are a lot of things you need to know about installing solar geysers. I installed two such systems under the ESKOM programme in 2012 and have learnt a number of hard lessons. After doing a lot of research (as anyone would do before making such an investment) I opted for TASOL Solar. A German product with all the blah-blah-blah. The bottom line is that I am not getting the efficiencies that I was promised. My electricity bill has hardly changed and I frequently don't have enough hot water for two back to back showers. My advice is to stay away from this. I learnt this lesson the hard way!

The other thing with solar installations, and this is something I never thought of, is that you now become reliant on the company that you bought it from. If something goes wrong, you have to contact them to fix it. You cannot go to AAA plumbers with an emergency anymore as they don't have the parts to fit your geyser. I am having immense problems with water leaks and this is the real crunch. The companies that sell these are sales focused, not service. They want to sell as many solar geysers as they can and don't give support. it doesn't make them money.
