Dangerous jeans!

I recently purchased 3 pairs of jeans for my teenage son. The jeans have metal rivets on the legs that have not been machined properly. Not a day goes by that my son does not cut himself on one of these rivets. We have tried to flatten them but it is not working. On the weekend, he cut his hand very badly - a lot of blood! Now I am sitting with 3 pairs of jeans that cannot be worn. This is obviously a design fault or factory fault. Please advise.
