Treat customers like children

Every month I get two mail messages and an SMS to remind me to pay my account. I have never once been in arrears, and always pay on time. Yet, DStv feels compelled to treat me like a six year old with amnesia.

If this is a ploy to irritate people into moving to debit order, it is disgusting. I am free to choose not to allow DStv to take money from my account, and I should not have to be harassed every month for it. If this is paranoia about not getting what they are due, it is laughable. Over and about this, they like to include a little threat about reconnection penalties.

The whole thing is frankly appalling. If they need to chase customers who routinely do not pay, fine. But why treat loyal and honorable customers like they are about to you every month?

Unfortunately, I do not expect anything to change. I have told DStv on numerous occasions about incorrect details on my account, but each incompetent I deal with is more incompetent than the previous one. Maybe if enough people have the same complaint someone in DStv with the authority and conscience can take a step to change this nonsense and treat their customers with a little bit of respect.
