Poor response to technical issues

Recreation & Entertainment

A group of us went to watch Django Unchained at the Gateway cinema complex on Saturday the 19th of January at 20:30. 45 minutes into the movie there was a technical glitch yet the movie was allowed to play for a while until a member of the audience alerted the staff to this. Is there not someone meant to be stationed at the projectionist booth monitoring the screening? In addition to this, once it was determined that the movie could not be screened no one communicated what the refund or re-imbursement process was. We were offered "re-screening" vouchers but NOT a refund. I don't attend the Gateway complex often so I will not be able to make use of the voucher. We should have been compensated with a cash refund and offered a re-screening voucher in addition. What about expenses incurred at the concession stand, parking and the emotional distress of a ruined evening. Surely the CPA (Consumer Protection Act) insists we must at least be compensated in cash for a service that could not be rendered (the ticket) if not the two full popcorn boxes I left the cinema with.
