Unfairly cut off

For many months now, I payed my DSTV account on the first of the month without any issues. They recently cut my connection despite my payment on the first - their reason was that the account was due on the 28th. I'm surprised by this as it's the first i'm being told of this - paying on the first worked historically and I never received a communication that they were changing their policy around this.
Call center want me to pay a reconnect ion fee to resume the services. I feel that this is unfair as my behavior hasn't changed, yet i'm now penalized for a change in their policy. I asked the agent to escalate the matter and I was promised a callback from the manager. It's over three days, and i'm still waiting.
