We moved in to a flat in Lyttelton Bernini Cres, with my family. We were assisted by an agent from Team 1 Waterfront Properties, Shane Van Vuuren, who during our rushed contract signing stated that we will be exempt from any penalties if we could find a suitable "replacement" tenant if we moved out before our contract expired. We found a bigger flat down the road and advised Team 1 Waterfront Properties of our intention to vacate and start the process of looking for a suitable replacement, Shane Van Vuuren came back to us to say that we will incur penalties for early cancellation (completely going back on his word) which is a 10% of the remaining month's rent and commission to Shane Van Vuuren the artist. (this fine is in contravention with section 14 of the Consumer Protection Act)

I explained to Shane's manager that Shane told me and my girlfriend if we find a suitable replacement for our lease there will be no financial loss to them since the new tenant will continue payments for the remaining months, however they insist that I still need to pay penalties and this is after a call conversation recording where Shane admits he did say that I will not incur any penalties.
