Cloned Number Plate

Received a "notice in terms of the criminal procedures act no 51 of 1977". Apparently I was speeding in Port Shepstone on the 20 December 2013. The picture quite clearly shows a white Ford Ranger. The notice clearly states that I own a Ford Figo. Surely its possible to actually link those details and save themselves the trouble of sending me letters of demand etc for a vehicle that clearly does not belong to me? This car was bought new in July 2013. where do these guys get the number plates from to clone? I phoned the offending Municipality but still have to write a letter. What a waste of time. Last year it was my husband's car number plate that was cloned and driving around in Krugersdorp!
