I phoned the SARS call centre, reference for my call being 105823435, to inquire about monies due to me for my 2012 tax return. I got through to Molapo who treated me with nothing but arrogance and disdain, talking to me as if I were some illiterate. He dismissed my query, blatantly refusing to hear me out while carrying on about how "SARS is not in business to do me any favours".
I tried to explain to him that I came to the SARS head office in Jhb to submit my returns and he thwarted me by claiming tax returns are not done by SARS staff so "I don't even know what I'm talking about". I informed him that I came through in May and I have 2 sms's from SARS confirming the amounts of my returns and he pretended to check on the system only to inform me that "I did not come in May I came in April and February" which is not true.
I tried to explain to him that my query is with regards to my 2012 assessment yet he kept carrying on about my 2008/2009 return, blatantly refusing to entertain the subject.
I usually receive courteous and professional assistance from SARS and this is the 1st time I have dealt with such a repulsive and unprofessional character.
