Abnormal vehicle speeding on the N1

On 22 February at approximately 13h55, one of Car Towing Services' vehicles that carries abnormal loads was hurtling down the N1 in Pretoria past the Lynnwood and Atterbury roads off-ramps. I was traveling between 90 and 100 km, and battled to keep up with the vehicle when it went down a hill. I later phoned the company and was told in no uncertain terms that I was not telling the truth as the vehicle could only go 82 km. Please note that a 70 km limit was clearly displayed on the back of the vehicle. Maybe the vehicle could only go 82 km up a hill, but it was going much faster on the declines.

What concerns me most is the attitude of the person to whom I spoke. He denied it and slammed the phone down. I am of the opinion that all company vehicles should display a sign, ' Report bad driving to ..." Furthermore, companies whose vehicles are involved in accidents because of negligence should be heavily fined. Certainly, the driver should be accountable, but the company should also be held accountable. After all, these companies employ these drivers.
