I RENT AN UNCOMPLETED LAPA

I contact Era Properties in March, looking for a house to rent in Klerksdorp. The agent "Valerie" email to me photo's of the house for R7000/month. On my arrival from Phalaborwa to Klerksdorp we discovered that the house we rented was a lapa and the actual house (never shown on any photo) was an old poorly renovated house. There is a lot of defects in the house, ie., dirty carpets, the garden was a total mess, in the backyard the filth was piled up so that you couldn't reach the washing line. The swimming pool was green and only half filled (although the pool on the photo emailed was perfect). The swimming pool have 3 cracks and the owner refused to repair anything. The lapa (which was actually the house we rented) has broken windows, cement floors, no water or sanitation (in a very bad state) (except the outside). I have paid the full rent for April although we have only moved in on the 9th of the month, threaten not to pay for May and June till they fix the urgent defects (we did pay April, May, June and July). Era cancelled the lease as they claim i paid my lease not on the 1st, but now give me bad reference and denied that they breached the contract. It is a shame!!!
