Apples aren't suppose to be bad for your health

I purchased my boyfriend an apple iPhone 4S in September 2012, after about 5-6 months the phone started giving battery issues. Battery life would last in average between 4-5 hours, we researched the causes to which apple released confirmation that it was a software issue and that updating to the latest version of IOS would resolve the issue, it didn't.

After trying everything from deleting all apps, factory restoring the device, nothing worked. He got himself a new phone for the time being.

This morning he woke up only to find that the iPhones battery had exploded while he was sleeping!!! He checked the serial number and surprise surprise the warranty period has expired and he is now 4 months out of warranty coverage. Was it built this way, so that it would fail after a year and four months!? Besides should a device this expensive explode or even malfunction so quickly! Not to even mention the absolutely ridiculous risk to his health and safety! It was inches away from his head!!

I expect a replacement or refund! I don't care that this device is 4 months out of warranty it's a blatant manufacturing fault and an unbelievably dangero
