My daughter. Thandi (Valencia Thandiwe Sykes), completed her BEd in 2010 and started working as a primary school teacher at Fairways Primary at the beginning of 2011. The first problem was that her initial registrations and exam results were lost These matters were sorted out and she got her full transcript of her results and graduated in April 2011. However, we have since received numerous accounts for amounts between R2 200 and R 2 400, apparently outstanding registration fees for 2011 (when she graduated and was already working full time). She never registered for any course in 2011. Various email correspondence and telephone calls to the fees office resulted in vague promises being made that the matter would be attended to (see below and another email I will forward to you). In the latest telephone conversation with a person who works in the fees office, Thandi was told the amount was not for study fees but for textbooks and gym fees not covered by the university. Now we are threatened with legal action and were forced to pay the amount. We consider this gross incompetence and injustice on the part of the university.
