Why having democracy when we are still restricted? My son wants to study Dentistry at UP. He meets the minimum admission requirements, but the faculty has ONLY 60 seats available from 1200 applicants. Surely preference should be given to residence of Pretoria first? It seems after 20 years of democracy, UP still keeps to only 60 seats per annum available, this when our population increased and the need for medical professions also increased. It seems you have to have 6 or more A's to get in; why not change the minimum requirements as it appears MBChB and BChD is only for the bright folks?
