Cancellation of Johannesburg Student Expo

On 1 June 2013, my niece (who travelled from Mpumalanga for the Expo) and; I went to Gallagher for the Student Expo, to find it cancelled. Cancellation note and phone number of organisers (0325863568) were at Gallagher's entrance. We could not get in touch with Student Expo to advise. On their website the Expo was still advertised. Many people arriving for Expo were also turned away by security who had no information of the cancellation. Looking for answer, all I found was a note of the cancellation on their Facebook page posted on start date of the Expo and no further communication to reach general public, especially since advertising targeted general public. Not only were travel costs incurred for my niece to travel from Mpumalanga, the whole day that couldv'e been used to prepare for her exams was lost. Jarryd Nel of Student Expo confirmed by email to me a week prior to event of ticket sales at the event, thus I accepted all was in order. On Facebook they indicated lack of communication with Gallagher as reason for cancellation, whereas Expo was advertised months in advance. This conduct is and a grave misrepresentation that prejudiced interested consumers.
