Breach of Contract

James Mallon was contracted and paid 50% of his quote on 27th June 2013 to carry out renovations to 2 bathrooms. He estimated the duration of the work to be 3 weeks, however after 5 weeks the first bathroom was only 90% complete and he requested a further 25% payment and also submitted an invoice for "extras" before starting the 2nd bathroom.

James then stripped the second bathroom and installed the waterproofing before disappearing from site. Not only did one of his worker's put a foot through a ceiling board but they also helped themselves to materials from my garage and despite instructions to the contrary, regularly walked dirt through the house.

With the second bathroom stripped, a pile of rubble sitting in the garden, a hole in my ceiling board and a pocket full of MY cash, James then abandoned the project on 22nd August 2013. Despite several dozen attempts to contact James via telephone he avoided my calls, emails and sms's. When he did occasionally answer my call (by mistake I assume) he would always apologize and promise to be on site the next day.

After failing to meet an ultimatum issued to James, I am resorting to HelloPeter and other online tools to warn the public.
