Computers & Services

To make a long story short, I bought a laptop from Dial A Nerd (DAN) in 2011 following a recommendation from a friend. After (almost) meeting my budget requirements, I was given a machine (apparently) with additional RAM, as requested.
When the machine was running slowly, an IT minded friend established it did not have the quoted additional memory and DAN came to remedy the problem. A few months later, when running slowly again, it was established the the memory card had falling loose from its installation and it had to be re-installed.
Now that I am trying to sell the machine and checking the computer properties, I have found out that the quoted 500GB hard drive is actually only 320GB and a lot of answers as to why the machine has always under performed are becoming more apparent. I realise there is nothing I can do about that now, except learn to not trust technical service providers.
I feel that DAN have acted like the (unfortunately) stereotyped car mechanic, preying on those who have less technical understanding than they do.
In addition, service delivery was slow and on their terms and I will not be forwarding the recommendation to any of my acquaintances.
