Ford
Ford Ranger Engine Failure & Warranty

Cars & Transport

My Ford Ranger 3.2 4x4 auto suffered a turbo breakdown at about 58000 km's, 5 weeks ago, with the result that the motor and gearbox have been replaced.

It has taken 5 weeks and I have still not received my vehicle back due to Ford incompetence and delays in approving the warranty among a list of problems. I have no clarity about what would cause the motor and gearbox to go as a result of turbo failure! And all attempts to get clarity in writing or speed up the process with Ford customer care were met with silence.

Now they are offering me a standard 20 000 km parts warranty on the new motor and gearbox! This is ridiculous a brand new motor and a brand new gearbox but they are not confident enough in their own product to give the full warranty on these items!

In essence I am losing out on the 120 000 warranty by getting a new motor, ie my warranty on the motor & gearbox now goes only to 80 000 km's (current mileage plus 20 000km's part warranty)

The problem is that although Ford claim this is an isolated incident why would they have a problem with warrantying a new engine?
