BMW South Africa
Poor paintwork

Cars & Transport

I took delivery of my 1 Series Urban Line A/T in June 2012. Splotchy marks were apparent on the bonnet when the vehicle had less than 300km. Bruma Auto advised that I polish the car, to no avail. The marks began to spread. Late September it was stated that the marks were caused by bird droppings at the harbour in Germany. I was led to believe the vehicle was going to be repainted. In August this year marks appeared on the tailgate, bumper and fender. Bruma Auto suggested I go to Alberante ARC for an opinion - a R13243.95 quote to repair.

I then discovered that they only polished the car last year and DID NOT paint as I was told, plus they invoiced me for Auto Armor. I then logged a complaint with BMW SA, hoping that they would restore my faith in the brand. They proceeded to tell me that the marks were caused by a spillage and that they flatly refused to re-address the marks on the bonnet which still remain.

The sales service was excellent only to have shoddy after sales attitude. I am going to trade-in the vehicle for another brand and will never support BMW, they have no value for customers. They force one to compromise their no claim standing instead of taking accountability
