Non Disclosure of product faults - DO NOT BUY VW

Cars & Transport

I recently bought a VW Jetta 2.0 TDI Highline with 18000km on the clock.

I took ownership of the vehicle, complete with the papers stating that it had undergone all the required checks as well as the salesman giving it a "clean bill of health" and after 1 week of driving there were multiple signs that the car was faulty. The major issue was the hissing noise from the engine. The vehicle was sent back to be checked and the technicians could not diagnose the problem, but admitted that there was one. I was told to monitor the issue to see if it got worse and bring it back in for a full week of testing.

I called VW head office to check the history of the car, I was shocked to discover the following and can only imagine how the "demo" unit had been driven before i purchased it. At 16000 km they had to replace the Cylinder block, Cam-belt, and a gear box mounting. All done before I purchased it and NOT disclosed.
VW Rivonia have been very unhelpful in finding a replacement or or refunding the full amount spent on the vehicle. In fact their communication in general has been appalling.
I have had a very disappointing experience with VW Rivonia and will not recommend them to anyone.
