My Renault developed a gearbox fault & agent quoted hectic price to DIAGNOSE. On learning Mayfair would actually do the work, I decided to query via website. 1st surprise: 2 follow-ups, from HQ & Pta. No-one likes gearbox problems, but from the outset this was to be a pleasant experience.
Steven & team agreed to meet us outside normal hours, and we left car with them the same day. Gearbox was stripped, fully diagnosed & and quote given 1 day after go-ahead. Steven also explained the fault to me. I've been in gearbox 'shops where oil is everywhere & parts around loose so you worry how many get lost / mixed up. Not so here: spotless work areas, 'box nicely cleaned & stripped, all clusters kept together with cable ties and everything in a separate bin.
Throughout the process (including insurance authorization) we had great comms thanks to Daleen. The car was back together & ready 1 working day after authorisation, exactly as promised. Price was reasonable too, some 30% below the agent's quote. I hope I never need it, but the 1-year warranty gives confidence, as does the amount of OE gearbox work Mayfair does.
