Pathetic service from premium brand

My car went in for standard A service. I added a request for them to check the cooling system as the thermometer did not get up to 80 degrees, even on long distance driving. As an engineer I suggested they might want to check (or replace) the thermostat. This obviously affected the fuel consumption, of which I have long term records. On collection they reported that they could not find anything wrong. I guess it must have been my imagination. What they did manage to do is find R6000 worth of other repairs including a cam seal leaking oil (??) and break the main intake air conduit (which I only noticed on opening the bonnet).
Back I went the next day - more time wasted. Confronted by rudeness from CARL APPEL and UTRICH. These two should not be employed let alone by Mercedes!!! No manners.
I re-booked the car a week later after a 600km trip during which the temperature gauge did not get past 40 degrees, armed with photographs of the instruments. Again confronted by rudeness from CARL APPEL. How can this person be a service consultant?? They eventually replaced the thermostat - whoa!
The MORAL FOR MERCEDES - Do not waste money on satisfaction surveys. Rather employ comptetent people.
