Destroying a brand

Cars & Transport

I have a 2006 Citroen C5. It overheats. I took it to Citroen Woodmead on the 21st of last month. They told me to bring it back on the 30th. I did. I got quoted for some repairs and gave the go-ahead. I got a call to say the car still wasn't running and needed repairs to the gasket totalling a significant portion of its replacement value. It now appears the repairs done maybe weren't necessary.

If I had known this, I would have scrapped the car. I phoned around and other Citroen dealers indicated they would have suspected the issue immediately. Google also indicates this is a major complaint on this model at this age. On the 7th I contacted the Customer Care line to ask how there could be such a difference in diagnosis and why I wasn't warned. I heard nothing back until I contacted them last Friday. The dealer phones me to get news of the complaint.

Why wasn't the car properly diagnosed? How can there be such differences in opinion amongst your own technicians? Are you actually capable of repairing older cars as you advertise? Why is it up to me to liaise between your dealer and customer care centre?
