I hired a car from Hertz in May for business purposes. This was done via the internet. My total charge including insurance was R600. When I went to pick up the car from Hertz, the woman didnt even ask to see my confirmation print-out or details of my insurance cover. Furthermore, I asked her to check my insurance details and she said that she couldnt because I went through a broker (how inefficient is that!). She didnt offer me the windscreen and tyre waiver which was R30. Now, if i took insurance on-line for R400, why wouldnt i take insurance cover for R30? My windscreen was chipped as I was driving on the highway and now I am being charged R4000 for it!!! Hertz management are big chancers and!!! I complained when I returned the car to Durban offices that I wasnt offered the tyre and windscreen insurance, but they all looked at me blankly and couldnt care less!!! PLEASE donot EVER use Hertz for car rental services!! My manager also sent a lengthy complaint to Hertz after the incident, but they just replied saying I am not covered for windscreen and tyre cover. What poor service!! they dont want to hear me, but just want my money.
