Holding deposit drawn

I hired a car from First Car Hire. I was told a R9000 deposit would be held by the company till I returned the car. A day later I realised they had in fact drawn the full R9000, without my permission, from my account. When I questioned this I was told that if the money is available on your account they will draw it out and not just hold it. This is apparently a new company policy that they do not tell you about. Please be aware of this especially if you have other payments coming off your account!! The money was eventually refunded (NOT SIMPLY!) and even though they had held my money in their account, for 3 days, and earned interest that I lost, they still took an extra R60 'contract fee'. They had no explanation nor made any apology for this.
