Skynet Worldwide Express
Lost Laptops, no Replacement

Cars & Transport

Today I received a final email from Gail Arendse, claims manager at Skynet in South Africa. In this mail she denied our insurance claim for 2 laptops that were transported by Skynet, but that went missing in transit. Skynet has refused to accept responsibility for their role in this loss.

Their waybill asks you to tick if you would like insurance over R1000. We ticked this, thinking that this was all that was required to make sure our laptops were insured during transit. However, because we did not specify the exact amount in the waybill, they have denied liability for our lost goods.

The Skynet waybill seems to be deliberately misleading, as the section where you ask for insurance above R1000 and the section where you specify the exact amount insured are far apart. They do not seem to be connected questions and this is misleading.
