FNB giving details to third party

Got a call from "FNB" asking me to take out a cancer insurance policy. I was interested in the policy but said that I wouldn't agree to it until reading the policy details. The woman said she couldn't give me the paperwork - something to do with a limited offer. I asked if the insurance is an FNB product and she backpedalled a bit, gave me a long story about if I go into FNB there are no tellers to help me with insurance, and how she is actually calling from AIG. She knew all my details, including what kind of account I have with FNB. Why is FNB giving my personal details to a third party? Is this even legal?
