After having been in Malaysia for 1 month, and having problems withdrawing money on 3 separate occasions.
I am now faced with another, even more serious problem...
My South African number (registered number for the bank) is now disconnected, and the best advice I have received from Standard Bank has been to enter the nearest branch to change my number to my Malaysian number - the nearest branch happens to be 8800 kilometers away.
I was told there was another way where I can send a secure message via my internet banking, but of course my OTP is sent to my disconnected South African number. Which is possibly the most STUPID thing I could imagine from a financial institution.
After numerous emails, I have received no further feedback for 2 weeks, and will not be able to deposit any money into my account during the course of this month.

I think that this is the final sign for me to close my account with Standard Bank, as it has become apparent that the bank no longer wants my business or my money. I will have to take my consulting business income to another bank, as I think they would be more receptive an accepting of it, and possibly better at helping their expat customers.
