Rogue SMS claims all money is gone

I am writing this report on behalf of my domestic worker who has the misfortune of having an Absa account. She has had various problems over the years but this one was very upsetting. Each month when her salary is paid in she receives an SMS from Absa notifying her of the transaction and giving her a balance. This month her balance was shown as R400 despite her having thousands of rand in savings.
We were given no help over the phone and told we had to visit a branch. After the usual queues, it was confirmed that the SMS was incorrect and her balance was in the thousands. We asked to set up internet banking so that we didn't have to visit the next time. We then had to wait in yet another long queue and explain the story again.
At no time was an apology made for the incorrect SMS and in fact the second teller laughed when we showed her the SMS.
This was an extremely distressing situation for my employee and it is disgusting that no'one apologised despite us being in the branch for nearly an hour. The people in that branch have no concept of customer service.
