Money Stuck in ATM - Waiting period of 9 - 10 days

Deposited money on Saturday afternoon (or at least tried), We went to the ATM in Epping. ATM # 08077, Punched in account # placed money in slot, thereafter an error message appearred - Transaction Error - Transaction Cancelled. We called the helpline # and spoke to Louis who said that he could confirm that a Jam appeared on the ATM. He said that we should visit a branch today Monday, which my husband did. According to Louis they should have it sorted out within a flash, however this morning in the branch he was told it could take approximately a week or more, as t hey need to investigate. Now we have a debit coming off tommorrow, and that is the reason we deposited the money. We received ref # OCT022 from Louis, yet I suppose it does not help us one bit, and I don't know the reason we phoned the helpline either as it was just a waste of time & airtime if no - one can manage to sort this out. I thought technology was so updated that these things will take approximately a matter of hours to sort it out, now I have to hear about 9 - 10 working days.? I mean really.
