Do Not Get Insured With Standard Bank!!

I would advise any sane person in South Africa, not to ever get ANYTHING insured by Standard Bank.

I took out a home loan with Standard Bank in 1997* - for 20 years - Part of the requirement was we insure the building with THEM, which we did.

1. In 2003* we had a storm, and the wind broke the glass on the balcony ballistrade (Wooden).
We called Std Bank Insurance - they sent an assessor, who then tears up the entire ballistrade by ripping it apart, he then said they will repair it. THEY DID NOT! - Their reason: NEGLECT

2.We had another storm in 2011*- water seeped through the roof ceiling and damaged the ceiling and kitchen cupboards, This resulted in the cupboards swelling from the rain water, and eventually becoming brittle. They did not send the assesor despite numerous calls to do so.

3. We had another storm in 2012*, a glass broke and carpeting got wet - After my son pestered them constantly, they paid this out.

We requested the pending claim for the kitchen cupboards to be assesed. Instead we were met by an arrogant, rude and i dare say assesor who immediately dismissed the claim as NEGLECT.

My advice: DO NOT DEAL WITH STANDARD BANK INSURANCE for anythin
