Technical problem at ABSA became my problem

Business & Finance

I have a vehicle financed through ABSA Vehicle Finance (AVF). In November 2012 I received a call from them offering me a service plan for my car. I agreed to take the deal. It was suppose to be added to my account and my debit order was suppose to be adjusted. December 2012 I noticed that my debit order did not go off, and I contacted AVF and ask them what happened. Their reply was that they cancelled the original debit order and forgot to reload the new one after they offered me the service. I paid the money via EFT. Since then I noticed that my debit order was less than what it should be. I contacted them again and they assured me everything was fine. They even offered to pay the credit back to me. Then I received a call from them to tell me I am in arrears. When I enquire and being sent from pillar to post, they said I am not in arrears and it is an error on their side (technical error). Now I receive a statement showing that I am in arrears and I have to pay the amount to them. I feel that they adjusted my debit order without my consent, how can I be held responsible for the amount in arrears. I followed it up numerous times but was sent back and forth.
