Account frozen without any prior notification

I tried to draw money from my cheque account on Wednesday 13 June, but got a response of 'account problems". I thought maybe it is the card or the machine and ignore the problem as I did not have time to visit the bank. Then on 15 June (Saturday) I tried to draw money from my Credit card - but got the same response. I were so shocked, being a long weekend and without money. Went home and tried to transfer money, but again without any luck. Accounts frozen! I phoned the Call center who informed me it is due to the fact that I need to FICA. How could they without any form of notification or warning do such a thing - and leaving a client without access to money over a long weekend when nothing can be done to rectify the issue from their side. It seems Absa is supposed to inform one upfront, but never did. I never experience such a bad attitude from any other company. It seems as they don't care and they know you need to adhere to their request to get access to your own money. I notice several of the same complaints. Seems Absa is so ignorant about this that they don't even have a process in place to prevent this from happening to other clients. What a shame!
