Thanks to the SAFAIR ruling, I found myself travelling on a BA flight. My partner and I arrived at the counter 2 hrs b4 check in was due to close, and we were rudely informed that the flight was over booked and we no seats were available. When I protested. I was crudely informed that is standard practice to overbook flights and there is nothing that can be done. If that woman had been anymore patronising, she might as well have been talking to a in a toilet bowl. We were eventually put on a flight that was four hours later, and a gentleman politely & more NB apologised. Only to arrive at the gate and then next thing my partner's seat allocation has suddenly been changed, and not a single person informed us, and nobody has a clue how it happened. someone took it upon themselves to move my partner and I into separate seats because we do not have the same surname, and assumed we were not a couple so by virtue of us not being legally married (though engaged) it was appropriate for us to be split so that other families could sit together? BA this SA discrimination of all kind is exactly what we have fought against! [URL Removed]
