My parents and I have been on the 8ta 10GB a month deal for about 18 months now, and the speed associated with it has progressively gotten worse and worse. Although we are supposed to be getting up to 21.6 mbps speeds (and I realise the "up to" variable in the equation), we have not been getting near that claimed speed; we have checked the bandwidth speeds on [URL Removed] and during the morning (before anybody is up), speeds of less than 4.5 mbps, whilst at night, speeds of barely 1 mbps are reached. We have already contacted 8ta with regards to this; however, the problem has not been sorted out yet. Furthermore, the two internet dongles (2 x 10GB per month deals) are optimised to WCDMA and no EDGE settings. I feel that Telkom/8ta is not holding up its end of the deal with regards to providing fast and efficient internet and I feel that we should not be bound to a contract when we are not receiving even 10% of the prescribed internet speeds when we actually need to use the internet (at night when we are actually at home).
