Paid for an item but Game can't Supply

On 6 April I went to Game Westgate to purchase an Acer i3 laptop that was advertised for R3999. I was informed by the salesman, Chris, that no stock had been received but if I paid I could secure the price and product would be available by Friday, 12 April. I paid and Chris promised that I would be contacted by the following Friday. No surprise that I wasn't contacted and I had to call Chris on Friday. He informed me that still no stock had been received and I should call back on Monday, 15 April. I did and again I was told that there was a problem with the supplier and there was no stock available. He also said that he had no idea when they will get stock but it could be several weeks!! I think this is appalling customer service. Firstly why do they advertise something they don't have and secondly why do they ask the customer to pay when they can't even secure the stock? It is now 22 April and I haven't heard anything further.
