BURNT CARAMEL SAUCE

I took my daughter for lunch as a treat before starting school the next day. We had a fantastic lunch and then decided to share what was described on the menu as a warm chocolate brownie serviced with ice-cream and caramel sauce. On tasting the caramel sauce that my daughter had liberally poured over her ice-cream, she found it to be bitter and inedible. I reported to our waitress that it appeared that the caramel sauce was burnt. It also looked burnt in that it was a darker shade of caramel than it should have been. Our waitress told us the chef would make up a new batch of sauce for us. I saw the waitress reporting our complaint to her superior and then watched as they squeezed out more of the caramel sauce from the same container for me to taste. We had by this time finished our dessert. The lady told us that this was the way the caramel sauce was meant to be! I was extremely disappointed by her attitude as she could see that we had not enjoyed the dessert and expected me to accept her explanation whether I enjoyed the dessert or not. This isn't the kind of service I would expect from a restaurant at Sandton City. We left unhappy!
