Plasma screens don't realy last long

I bought a TV plasma screen & 14 mths latter on it broke down, just 2 months after the 1 year's guarantee expired. Samsung quickly ordered a new screen to be installed at no cost to me. I thank you & commend you for that SAMSUNG SA. The agent that replaced the plasma screen gave me 3 mths. guarantee on that job. 8 mths latter on, the 2nd. screen broke down also. Same problem as before: vertical lines started to appear on the screen. Searching the net I found that this was reported many years before I bought my TV plasma flat screen. Looks a common fault, a defect.
The question is: if Samsung knows this, why does it sell screens that are faulty? Looks like that they are made to last the guarantee period plus a couple of months more, just to get Samsung off the liability. My 3 previous CRT TV's (Philips) lasted over 10 years each without any glitch.
Please bring back the CRT's if you can't make plasmas that can last longer.
