In April 2012 I spent R13000 with Heatwave (Randburg) to install a Ferno Fireplace. Less than a year later, the inside had rusted, as well as the outside chimney. Heatwave took the unit back to send to their factory. I was then told the fireplace had been "over fired" (despite no warnings in the manual re this or instructions from the installer). I was billed R900 to get the fire place returned. On the day it was returned, my wife and I both received abusive phone calls demanding that we pay the R900 COD or the unit would be removed. I was away on business at the time and when I tried calling Dawie, he twice put the phone down on me and then resorted to insulting my wife. To add insult he instructed his team to remove the ashtray of my fireplace until I paid. To date I have not heard from Heatwave and find their treatment of a client highly unprofessional. The so called service done by the factory is also unsatisfactory: There is still rust evident, the rubber seal on the door is not installed correctly and one of stabilizing legs is missing. Heatwave don't seem to be at all interested in providing proper service and I most certainly would not recommend their product to anyone.
